Author's note:  I know that Christmas is on Sunday this year, but that just didn't work for this series… so I moved it to Tuesday.  I really didn't care when Christmas is/was (whatever), but I needed Christmas Eve to be a Monday.  It's my prerogative 'cus this is my story and it needed to be moved so I move it.  So there. <G>  Enjoy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house….Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse…  Well, except for me… and you.  Thanks for coming tonight.  You should be home with your family.  Don't you know it takes a long time to put together those 'some assembly required' presents?
I almost bought him a present the other day.  I stopped by a sporting goods store after my PT session.  I wanted to pick up something nice for Simon and then saw all the camping gear.  I almost lost it right there in the middle of the two-man tent section.  Let's just say I burned rubber to get out of there.  Ended up doing most of my shopping on the internet. Snort.  That's ironic isn't?
I know, you told me the holidays would be hard.  I just… Damn.  I just keep expecting it to get easier.  Even just a little bit.  It's Christmas Eve, everyone else in the world is celebrating… and happy.  Why can't I be?  Happy that is.  The gang's coming tomorrow for Christmas and I decided to help them celebrate.
I got them all presents, things to say thanks for all of the help they've been this year and in the past.  I'm saving my big surprise for last.  I'm going to show them that their hard work has paid off… I'm going to walk across the room and lead them to the dinner table.
Won't they be surprised.  Snort.  Of course the joke will be on me if I end up falling on my ass.
Did you hear that?  I could have sworn I heard a coyote howling off in the distance.  Go home to your family.  I'm going to sit outside for a while.  Hey… thanks… and, um… Merry Christmas.
End.
On to the sequel
