Canine Manners 101 for dogs from 8 weeks and older This class is a basic obedience class for all dogs (classes will be grouped by age if possible). We will show you how to use a clicker to train new behaviors for your dog. While you do not have to use this tool, we encourage you to try it. What is a "clicker"? The class will cover basic obedience training issues including: Basic control positions: Sit, down, stand Recall - coming when called Walking on leash Chewing, biting, jumping, etc. Socialization & handling Other behavior issues, house training, etc. The class is a basic obedience class. This means that we will give you the basic tools to train your dog. Training your dog is an ongoing process. You will have to commit yourself to applying the techniques we show you on a daily basis for them to work. This class is 7 weeks long. It is held Thursday nights from 7:00pm to 8 or 8:30pm. The cost of the class is $160.00 for the 7 weeks. top
Canine Manners 201 for dogs who have taken Basic Manners 101 This class is an advanced obedience class for all dogs who have completed Manners 101 (exceptions may be made on an individual basis). We will continue to work on fine tuning the basics with an emphasis on proofing behaviors in real life situations. The class will cover advanced obedience training issues including: Remaining in Control positions with distractions: Sit, down, stand Recall - coming when called - distractions/distance/reliability Walking on leash - distractions Stay Any other behavior issues A few fun tricks to amaze your friends Remember, I can only give you the tools to train your dog. Training your dog is an ongoing process. You will have to commit yourself to applying the techniques we show you on a daily basis for them to work. This class is 7 weeks long. Puppy/Kitten Manners for new puppy & kitten owners This class is for new puppy and kitten owners who need help getting their pet started out right. It is a 1 hour seminar held once a month. No animals are brought to this seminar, only people, but the entire family is welcome. The class will cover: House Training tips Recall - coming when called - briefly explained Crate (kennel) training Feeding tips Handling Biting/scratching/rough play Appropriate toy choices Chewing Socialization This seminar is not meant to be a comprehensive training class, it is designed to help you get started with basic 'rules of the house' to prevent certain behavior problems from starting. I highly recommend you follow up with Canine Manners 101 or Feline Manners 101 if you are intereted in further training your pet. top
Feline Manners 101 for cat owners This class is for cat owners who need help with training their cat. Because adult cats do not normally do well outside their own home environment, only young kittens from 8 to 16 weeks will be brought to class, but anyone with any age cat is encouraged to take the class. The class will cover: Clicker training behaviors - like sit Recall - coming when called Crate (kennel) training Feeding tips Handling Biting/scratching/rough play Appropriate toy choices Chewing Socialization Remember, I can only give you the tools to train your cat. Training your cat is an ongoing process. You will have to commit yourself to applying the techniques we show you on a daily basis for them to work. Clicker Intro Introduction to Clicker Training This seminar is designed to explain why clicker training is so much better, faster and more fun than 'traditional' training methods and to show you how to get started. The class will cover: Basic training theory - operant conditioning/conditioned reinforcers Why use a clicker? How to 'charge' the clicker Treat recommendations Practice with a clicker Sign up for a basic class at the end of the Clicker Intro seminar and get a discount off your class fee. This seminar will be held once a month. top
Clicker Fun Fun Tricks you can teach your pet This is a 4 to 6 week class designed to stretch you and your dog. There will be games to test basic skills during class and assignments to practice at home so you can show off new tricks each week. Canine Manners 101 is required (exceptions may be made on an individual basis). The class will include: A brief refresher on clicker training and learning theory Games designed to test known behaviors like sit, down, stand, come and stay Teach helpful behaviors like 'go to mat' Teach fun tricks like 'spin', 'wave', 'back' etc. This will be held several times a year. Private Classes For those needing one on one help with certain behavior issues Private classes can be requested for any number of sessions. Some behavior problems require more than one session to help adjust training methods as the pet progresses. If you need help with a specific issue, please contact Judy for more information. The cost of the private class is $45 per hour if you come to me. At home sessions may be arranged. They start at $150 for the first hour. top
