The Colors of Justice

I was flying to Portland as the sun was setting. The colors were absolutely amazing. It left me speechless and wishing I could
paint. Since I can't, I've trying to
give you a small taste of what I saw.
Enjoy.

He sighed, impatient with the slow-turning wheel of
justice. I hate waiting. He looked
out the window and sighed again, this time in awe. The slowly setting sun had turned the sky into
a vibrant array of colors.
Orange was the
first color to catch his eye. Ranging
from pale salmon, to tangerine, to a deep, rich pumpkin. The yellows merged in almost seamlessly. So many shades... light goldenrod to a deep
lemon yellow. Green came next. You don't normally think of green with
sunsets, but it was there nevertheless.
The scary green of the sky before a tornado, the calming sea green of
the tropical ocean, the vivid forest green of a remembered lover's eyes. Royal purple was followed by midnight blue
mixed with flecks of blood red. All the
colors of the rainbow and then some, but they seemed out of order. Mixed up and scattered about. Sunsets were usually not so chaotic... so
random... still the blending of colors was so... awe inspiring. Oh for a camera, or a paint brush.
His enthralled timeout came to an abrupt end with the sound
of a knock on his door.
"Captain, we've finally received the warrant for
Halson," Ellison said with satisfaction.
"Great." Simon grabbed his coat from the back of
his chair and glanced out the window one last time. The last of the colors drained out of the sky
leaving everything a dark indigo that was heading toward black. Then the sky was lit with colors once again…
red, blue, and white flashing lights.
The colors of justice.
