As The Years Go By

This story woke me up from a sound sleep. It was six in the morning on Saturday a day that I should have been able to sleep in on. But no… my muse said out of bed or else. What could I do but give in. Sheesh, and I thought the kids were bad. So I knocked this out in half an hour and crawled back in bed for a little while longer. It's kinda a triple drabble. Hope you like it 'cause I had little to no control over the outcome.

I'm a deputy in a small county now. I left the day after the Diss-aster. I'm not sure when I decided but, I think it was the day before when everyone was standing around in the bullpen. I looked around the room and realized that I had the best group of friends that a guy ever could. But things were going to change big time and I didn't want to see that happen… so I left.

I'm mostly happy now. I changed my hair and my attitude. I don't think any of my old friends would recognize me now.

I miss him.

I'm a history teacher at a small junior college now. I left the day after the Diss-aster. I'm still with Cascade PD. I'm a shoe-in for Chief of Police next year. They both left the day after the Diss-aster. At first we thought they left together. Then we worried that someone took them. Now after several years of searching, I've finally found them both. They live in the same state, in towns no more than 50 miles from each other. But, they don't seem to know that. In some sort of strange role reversal… Blair's a deputy and Jim's a teacher.

We miss them.

The end
